Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving

Dear Fleming Countians,

The 2016-2017 school year is well underway and we are off to a great start to what promises to be a year of many student successes. As we approach the Thanksgiving Holiday, we all must pause and give thanks for all of our many blessings. We are fortunate to live in the best community, commonwealth and nation. Our freedoms and liberties are the envy of others and those freedoms are exactly what provides us the opportunity to give thanks.

Our community, which includes area businesses, churches and other organizations, are truly partners in our journey to become a District of Distinction. Fleming County Schools is among the Top 50 school districts out of 173 school districts in Kentucky. This recognition, as being among the best in Kentucky, is the result of everyone working together. Over the past several years, students, teachers, staff, parents/guardians, business leaders and community leaders have worked together to move student achievement to a higher level. I have had the pleasure of witnessing for myself the fruits of the efforts of so many people who have been willing to sacrifice in order to ensure that the education of our students is the key focus of our work each day.

Fleming County is also recognized throughout the commonwealth as a community that supports students. Furthermore, we are recognized as a place that supports and helps our fellow neighbor. We are surrounded by countless resources and many positives that all lead to positive outcomes for students. We must build upon each positive and the many strengths, identify areas of improvement, while also valuing our community’s history, heritage and way of life.

As a district and community, we all have so many things to be thankful for. Like many, the school district moves at lightning speed. We have so many things happening on any given day that we often fail to realize how fortunate we are to live, work and learn in such a beautiful part of Kentucky. One of the things that I am most grateful for is Fleming County’s willingness to work together to create the best school district and community for students. As I talk to other superintendents in Kentucky and across the nation, they are envious of the level of support our students receive here in Fleming County.

The level of collaboration between the district, businesses, organizations, churches and elected leaders and parents goes unmatched here in Fleming County. As a result, students are succeeding. It is the generosity and team work from everyone that has moved Fleming County Schools to among the best in Kentucky. As a school district, we must always communicate that as students succeed, the district and community succeeds together.

On behalf of the Fleming County Board of Education, students, faculty and staff, I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving and is able to spend time with friends and loved ones. Thanksgiving is the perfect time of the year to reflect upon our many blessings, and I would like to take this opportunity to tell you how grateful I am for each one of you. Make sure to take the time to give thanks for all of our many blessings that we have here in Fleming County, Kentucky and in the United States of America.

Our Journey Continues…
