Dear Parents and Guardians,
On behalf of Ewing Elementary School, I am excited to welcome you to our Pirate team! Summer has quickly come and gone and we must now move forward with a brand new school year. I am honored to continue another school year as your Principal and I feel grateful to work with our highly qualified and devoted staff, our amazing students, supportive parents and community members. The outpouring of support over the past school year and this summer has been phenomenal and truly supports our vision of becoming a School of Distinction. We have made a valiant effort to update via social media all of our new staff this year. I would like to officially welcome the following: Ms. Allison Newsom (1st grade), Mrs. Stacey Tranbarger (3rd grade), Ms. Courtney Gulley (Special Education), Ms. Samantha Morris (paraprofessional), Mrs. Allison Manning (Gifted and Talented), and Ms. Laray Gillum (Spanish Teacher).
Last year, Ewing Elementary ended the year on an extremely positive note. We believe that the path to our success is a journey that is best traveled with students, educators, parents, and the community working together with a shared vision. It is our continued desire that every child moves within our learning community with a surety of purpose, arousal of curiosity, and a commitment to excellence. We will partner with parents, community members, district leaders, and external sources to continue that tradition of excellence for the 2016-2017 school year.
This summer, our teachers have been preparing for our common curriculum, attending multiple professional learning opportunities, and presenting at nationally recognized conferences. Through this, they are prepared to implement many new strategies to differentiate the instruction for all of our students’ needs. Our teachers have been working meticulously in preparing their classrooms and planning for instruction that promise to make for an exciting and productive year at Ewing. We give many thanks to our site custodians, Mr. Jolly, Mr. Masters and Mrs. Gulley, as well as the District’s entire maintenance crew who have been working to prepare our campus for the start of the new school year.
I would like to encourage you to visit our school’s website. This will serve as a resource tool for all upcoming events, important reminders, meeting minutes and our “Pirate News”. This year our overarching theme is teamwork and the leadership team has brainstormed many fun and exciting ideas to support our theme. We will continue to use Facebook and our Bright Arrow messaging system for reminders of upcoming events.
Please note that our master schedule will remain the same and the tardy bell will ring at 7:35 a.m. In addition, it is important to note that we will only release students as permitted by parents or legal guardians. Emergency contacts that are listed on the enrollment form do not suffice as permission on a day to day basis, only in emergency situations. You can either call case by case or write a long-standing note with your permission to release your child without notification. Please remember that this is only to uphold the utmost safety procedural practices at Ewing Elementary School. Your child’s safety is our number one priority!
In closing, I look forward to working with all of you this school year as we work attentively to provide a rigorous and fun education that our students need and deserve. Attached you will find important information. Our journey of becoming a School of Distinction will continue on August 11, 2016.
Our vision is to be a School of Distinction
