Fleming County Schools will be closed on Monday, August 21, 2017, as a result of the upcoming Solar Eclipse. This decision was made with a focus on student safety after reviewing information from our insurance agent, discussions with other leaders in Kentucky, and monitoring decisions made by other school districts across the state. Early dismissal was not an option as buses would have been on the road during or close to the end of the Solar Eclipse which places students and bus drivers in harm’s way unnecessarily.
As a result, we will use Tuesday, January 2, 2018, as a make-up day. School will be in session for students on Tuesday, January 2, 2018. Utilizing January 2nd still protects the Christmas Break as requested by students, parents, and staff as we created this year's academic calendar.
We wanted to notify parents and guardians now to allow time to make necessary arrangements. Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact the district at 606-845-5851
