About Us

Willow Lake Bed and Breakfast

Willow Lake Bed and Breakfast is located in the beautiful Belle Reve building, meaning “beautiful dream”. A Frenchman, Jacques Francois, in 1823 built the building in the town of Charleston; he named it his “beautiful dream” because he dreamed of coming to America and building his own house. When his son, Hugo, converted the building into a bed and breakfast in 1857, visitors flocked from all over to view this magnificent building. Abraham Lincoln, in 1859, stayed in the Willow Lake Bed and Breakfast while campaigning for his election in 1860. After 150 years of business, many famous people have come and gone, from Elvis to Marilyn Monroe to even the basketball superstar Ray Allen. All have graced Willow Lake Bed and Breakfast with their presence.
