Game Club Logo

Our game club needed a logo so I decided to make one from scratch. I began by selecting my medium (program), Microsoft Paint.

The steps for how I designed the game club logo are as follows:

  1. I decided how to make the logo, what size should it be, and how its colors blend. I decided upon a pixelated look for the logo seeing as how it is game club.
  2. I started making small scale pixel letters to color in with different shades of one color for each letter.
  3. I expanded the letters to keep them in proportion with one another.
  4. A few of the letters have deeper connection than their letter. The letter C, for example, is suspiciously yellow, and has yellow pixels next to it.
  5. The only letter preplanned from the start was the L. Its appearance clearly mimics that of the queen piece in chess.
  6. After all of the pixelated letters were finished I was left with the question of what to do with the background. I colored it in as a black/ grey color to make sure that the outer layer of black pixels on the letters were visible.
  7. To add the finishing touch I began adding light colored pixels to the background to give it a nostalgic aesthetic similar to Galaga, and other "old-school" space-shooter video games.
