Welcome to First Grade! This will be a year full of fun, exciting, and new learning adventures!
Let me introduce myself. My name is Kathy Davenport, and I am part of the first grade team at FES. I am married to Tom Davenport, and we have two daughters, Rebecca, 19, and Sarah, 15. I love spending time with my family, reading, gardening, and being outside. I also like to walk, play the piano, travel, and learn new things. I am a country girl at heart! I grew up in Martinsville, Indiana with four sisters and one brother. My dad was a rural mail carrier, and my mom was a nurse's aide.
This is my 31st year of teaching, including 23 in Fleming County, and 8 in Indiana. I have taught 2nd grade, 3rd grade, reading intervention, and adult education. This is my third year teaching 1st grade, I have a Bachelor’s Degree from Edgewood College in Madison, WI, a Master’s Degree from Indiana University, and a Rank I from Morehead State University. I also minored in Spanish, and music education, and incorporate both of these in my teaching. We sing lots of songs!
I hope to instill a love of learning in each child, and to create life-long readers and learners. I am excited about this year, and all of the things we will learn, and do together. I know it is going to be super!
