School Delay

Fleming County schools will operate on a one hour delay today.  We will also stay one hour later this afternoon.  Buses will operate on Plan B and will be delayed by one hour this morning and afternoon as well.  With the possibility of incoming inclement weather this afternoon, we will be monitoring that situation.  If it becomes necessary to dismiss school early, we will announce that using the district notification system.

School Schedule Change

Fleming County Schools will be in session Monday, February 17th.  This will be used as makeup day #15, and all students should be in attendance.

One Hour Delay Today

Fleming County Schools will operate on a one hour delay today.  We will stay one hour later at the end of the day to make it a full school day.  Buses will operate on Plan B, and bus routes will be delayed by one hour this morning and afternoon as well.

School Delay Schedule Change

State law requires all school districts to have no less than 170 full 6-hour days during a school year.  To be in compliance with this, Fleming County Board of Education approved a plan that if there is more inclement weather prohibiting school from being in session on a normal schedule, there will be 2 options, effective after Tuesday, February 11, 2014:

  1. NO SCHOOLWeather is too treacherous to attempt to have school.   Any days dismissed will be made up according to state laws and regulations.
  2. 1-For-1 Plan(1 Hour Delay/1 Hour Extension)If it is determined, in the interest of student safety, to run buses at a later than normal starting time, a 1 hour delay will be announced.  This will result in school starting one hour later AND dismissing one hour later than regular schedule, but the school day will be a full day.  Also, bus service will operate on the 1-For-1 Plan, observing the delay bus routes.

Note:  If no announcement is made, school will operate on a normal schedule.

Pictures in Place

Students from Simons Middle School and Fleming County High School recently participated in the Pictures in Place project in conjunction with the Kentucky Folk Art Center in Morehead.  This project encourages students to explore their place in Appalachia through pictures and a personal narrative.  To view these photos and narratives, visit http://picturesinplace.com/.  Several of these pictures also appear on the header of the district website.

Attendance Area Transfer Request

The form is available at the superintendent’s office, any Fleming County elementary school, or may be downloaded and printed from the district’s website (click here).  The attendance area zone map is available for viewing at the superintendent’s office.
