FCS Press Release: Flemingsburg Elementary School Mourns Passing of Beloved Staff Member

Dear Fleming Countians,

This morning I was notified that Mrs. Jacki Fryman, an Instructional Assistant at Flemingsburg Elementary School passed away last evening. Mrs. Fryman’s smile was legendary at Flemingsburg Elementary School, always brightening students’ days, even when she didn’t feel well. She gave her students all of her energy each day and I know they, along with their parents/guardians, will forever appreciate her service.

Our most sincere thoughts and prayers go out to her family and the faculty and staff at Flemingsburg Elementary School. Currently, funeral arrangements are incomplete. We lost a valued member of the Fleming County Schools family and our community. Mrs. Fryman was an excellent Instructional Assistant who was fully committed to her students. She was always one of the first to volunteer to help, whether that was at an event during school or after-school. Her students meant the world to her and the positive relationships she developed will leave a lasting impact.

Respectfully,

Brian K. Creasman

FCS Press Release: FCHS Principal Announcement PSA

Dear Fleming Countians,

It is with great excitement that I have named Austin Hart the interim principal of Fleming County High School for the 2022-2023 school year. Mr. Hart, the current assistant principal, brings a vast skill set to the position that is needed as we begin a new school year and new phase at Fleming County High School. I have full confidence in Mr. Hart’s ability to lead Fleming County High School. He is an outstanding leader, who knows the school, staff, students, and community extremely well. While serving as interim principal, Mr. Hart will be responsible for the overall administration of the school and will have full authority, in conjunction with the SBDM to create a student-centered learning environment and to take Fleming County High School to the next level.

FCS Press Release: 2022-2023 Academic Calendar Final Version (04.19.2022) Calendar

Dear Fleming Countians,

Last night, at the regular monthly Board of Education meeting, the 2022-2023 academic calendar was finalized. Last month the board approved a tentative calendar, based on board policy. The board approved a traditional calendar for the 2022-2023 school year (access here). The calendar includes a full week for fall break, a week for Thanksgiving, two weeks plus one day for the Christmas break, and a full week for spring break plus one day (on the Friday after Good Friday for BPI scoring). I communicated to the board it was important to have a traditional calendar for the recruitment and retention of staff. Going forward the district must have the academic calendar approved by December 1st for the next school year.

Thank you for your patience and your continued support of Fleming County Schools.
