Dear Fleming County Hillsboro Community
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has awarded a contract for rehabilitation of the KY bridge over the branch of Hillsboro Creek on Hwy 111 in Fleming County which will require the bridge to close for 45 days beginning March 25, 2019.
All traffic will be detoured:
* Via KY 158 and KY 32 from Hillsboro through Rowan and Fleming counties for all thru traffic and commercial vehicles. This will be the official detour marked by signs and will reroute traffic along roads of similar type and weight capacities as KY 111.
* Local traffic may reroute using other routes such as KY 1515, KY 1013, etc. However, those roads will not be marked as detours and are not recommended for commercial vehicle traffic.
This construction will affect all Hillsboro Elementary, Simons Middle School and Fleming County High School students that live in the Hillsboro district that ride buses to these three schools. With this bridge construction beginning March 25, 2019 bus routes will be greatly be affected. With extra time needed to get to Hillsboro Elementary, Simons Middle School and Fleming County High School, this will change the start and ending times at Hillsboro Elementary School.
Buses will unload at Hillsboro Elementary 15 minutes earlier at 7:10 in order to transfer the middle school and high school to Flemingsburg at their regular starting times.
In the afternoons with the Transportation Cabinet detours, we are anticipating an additional 15 minutes added onto the end of the school day. Students, please check with your bus driver, to confirm a new pickup and drop off time while this construction is taking place.
As a school district, we apologize for these inconveniences. If you have questions or concerns you may contact the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet directly at (502) 564-4890.
Thank you for your understanding in this matter as we look to finish up this school year with minimum impacts to all of our students in Fleming County.
