Dear Fleming Countians,
Fleming County Schools is now preparing to develop the 2020-2021 Academic Calendar and is seeking input from stakeholders. Like in years past, your voice is critical in developing a conducive school calendar. Your feedback will be shared with the district's Calendar Committee (teachers, staff members, parents, community members). The committee is responsible for developing a school calendar that will be sent to the Board of Education for final approval.
In preparation for developing a school calendar for the 2020-2021 school year, the following information must be considered:
+ 185 calendar days, 175 student days, 4 PD days and 4 holidays, opening and closing day
+ Holidays: Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, MLK Day.
+ 1062 Instructional Hours
+ The school day cannot be longer than 420 minutes
+ No school on a Presidential Election Day or if any school is used as a polling place.
+ Snow days are factored using the highest number of missed days in the past five years.
This survey will close on Friday, November 8, 2019.
Once the Calendar Committee collects all of the responses and develops a calendar based on input from all stakeholders, another survey will be conducted based on the proposed calendar(s) before being shared with the Board of Education for final approval at the December Regular Board Meeting. ALL responses will be shared with the Calendar Committee and members of the Board of Education.
