Welcome Letter

Dear Parents,
Welcome back to EES for another exciting school year. I wanted to take this time to let you know of a few important things and also to let you know how our classroom will be run. Behind this letter you will find several papers that need to be read and filled out. The first paper is the enrollment form, please make sure to fill out all sides and sign the back. The next paper is the lunch form for free and reduced lunch. If you would like to apply, please fill the form out and send it back. However if you do not wish to apply, I still need the form back and please write on it “Do Not Want”, sign and date it. The next two forms need to be signed and dated as well. These first four forms need to be returned as soon as possible. The next form is an option for you to get notifications about the school on your phone. If you are interested again sign and return. The rest of the papers are letters from Ms. Applegate. They contain information you need to know. If you have any questions about these forms, feel free to call the school and we can answer any questions you have.
To make your child’s transition from kindergarten to 1st grade easier, our class will be similar to last year.  They will still have binders that will need to be signed each night. Our binders are P.I.R.A.T.E books which stands for: Prepared, Informed, Responsible, and Together Everyday. It will be the same as last year, please look at their binders each night, look for important notes, review homework and sign. I will be checking these each day, they will get a sticker on a chart and when they fill the chart up, they will have the opportunity to get into the treasure chest. I will continue the discipline as well. We will follow the green (great behavior), yellow (warning, behavior needs to improve) and red (behavior was unacceptable). I will mark the binders each night with the color your child was on for the day and if your child is on yellow or red, I will attach a note explaining why they were on that particular color.
I am really looking forward to this year. I have an open door policy, if you need to speak to me you can call the school at 267-2601 or you may send me an email at madonna.mcelfresh@fleming.kyschools.us I will get back to you as soon as I can. Once again I’m glad to have your child in my class and I know we will have a wonderful year.
