Fleming County Schools is focused on becoming a “District of Distinction” in Kentucky. No other school district in Kentucky or in the nation is doing more work that is solely focused on transforming the teaching and learning process, as well as, operations throughout the district. Furthermore, through the transformative process, Fleming County Schools is focused on linking all schools together to create the best learning environment and program for our students.

In the fall of 2014, Fleming County Schools started strategic planning to systematically transform all system processes. Working closely with stakeholders, the Fleming County Board of Education, the Kentucky Department of Education, and the Kentucky Association of School Administrators, the district developed a 5-year strategic plan with a laser focus on student success. In June 2016, the Fleming County Board of Education unanimously approved the strategic plan. From there, a strategic framework was developed, often referred to as the district’s “Playbook,” to help guide the usage and implementation of the strategic plan.

The strategic plan focuses on four goals: 1) Leadership and Accountability; 2) Teaching and Learning; 3) Operations and Support Systems; and 4) Culture, Communication and Community. As we continue to grow individually and as a school district, it will be imperative that we remain committed to the goals and areas of focus that are clearly outlined in the strategic plan. As the development of the strategic plan required all stakeholders to work together, so too will the implementation and sustainability of the strategic plan.

With our strategic plan and framework, Fleming County Schools believes has a plan that will lead to increases in student success, more effective teaching and leadership, improved efficiency, but ultimately, the district becoming a “District of Distinction!”
