In Fleming County Schools, students are taking a more active role in the learning process. Teachers are providing meaningful choices in what students create, how they demonstrate understanding, and how they organize their evidence on BPI Websites. This approach supports the district’s vision for visible, relevant, and student-owned learning.
This shift reflects the heart of the BRIDGE Performance Indicators (BPIs). Students become stronger communicators, more confident problem-solvers, and more creative thinkers when they are able to shape their learning in ways that reflect their goals and interests.
Across classrooms, students are deciding how to present projects, selecting artifacts that best demonstrate their growth, and taking the lead in explaining what they have learned. These opportunities help students grow in the competencies that Fleming County Schools values. These include Innovation and Creativity, Communication, Problem-Solving, Growth and Achievement, and Teamwork.
Superintendent Dr. Brian Creasman shared that student participation in designing their own learning is a powerful contributor to success.
“When students help shape the work, they gain clarity about their goals and confidence in their abilities,” he said. “Student choice supports readiness for life and strengthens our culture of vibrant learning.”
These student-driven practices support Fleming County’s commitment to a learning environment built on trust, belonging, and continuous improvement. When student voice becomes part of daily instruction, learning feels purposeful and connected to each learner’s path.
We look forward to continuing to share how vibrant learning comes to life and how our district prepares students for the next level and for life beyond school.
